THE CITY OF PASADENA
IS IN THE PROCESS OF UPDATING THE CITY'S GENERAL PLAN
AND PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUR SCHOOLS
NEED TO BE PART OF THE CONVERSATION!

Currently, the City of Pasadena abides by Seven Guiding Principles:
  1. Growth will be targeted to serve community needs and enhance the quality of life.
  2. Change will be harmonized to preserve Pasadena's historic character and environment.
  3. Economic vitality will be promoted to provide jobs, services, revenues and opportunities.
  4. Pasadena will be promoted as a healthy family community.
  5. Pasadena will be a city where people can circulate without cars.
  6. Pasadena will be promoted as a cultural, scientific, corporate, entertainment and education center for the region.
  7. Community participation must be a permanent part of achieving a greater city.
Invest in PUSD Kids respectfully suggests the
addition of an
Eighth Guiding Principle:
A vibrant public education system will be valued and supported as the shared responsibility of our community.

How do Public Education and Schools connect to Pasadena's  General Plan Elements?

Land Use

PUSD is one of the largest landowners in Pasadena

Transportation and Mobility

Approximately 10,000 families in PUSD transport their children to school by either public transit or private vehicles 10 months out of the year.

Air Quality

Relates to Transportation and Mobility.

Open Space

PUSD fields, courts, tracks, pools, and other athletic facilities are utilized by the greater Pasadena community on a daily basis

Pasadena would be joining other cities such as Arcadia, Davis, Anaheim, Fullerton, Santa Ana, (see links listed below) to name a few, that have either added Public Education/Schools to their Guiding Principles or as a separate element in their General Plan.
